A Portrait of the Mannheim Court Orchestra: New Project

We are proud to announce and acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts / Conseil des arts du Canada and the Adriana Jacoba Fund for their support in our upcoming project.

From 1743-78, the court orchestra of Mannheim became the leading centre of musical life in Europe. It was renowned for its first rate performances of the leading composers of the day, and also for its own school of composers, virtuoso players, and innovative style, which had a profound influence on later composers like Mozart and Haydn. We will present a collage of music from this repertory in a video concert made available on a CBC/Radio Canada showcase, and will also release an album of music by Carl Stamitz, Franz Ignaz Beck, Johann Christian Bach, Niccolò Jommelli, Peter von Winter, Johann Baptist Wendling, and Ludwig August Lebrun.

Please follow our posts on this site, or on social media, to keep up with the release, which is projected for November 2020.
